Hi.
So I have wedding anouncements falling out of my mailbox. Just so you know. Haha but I'm happy for all of them! Oh my goodness and I keep learning about people that just got married...and I didn't even know they were engaged! I guess that's what happens when you come on a mission to serve the Lord and leave everything behind huh? Well I'm hapy that they found the person they want to be stuck, I mean be together forever with :-) NO but really. It's amazing to know that people are willing to make such a big commitment with not only another person, but with God. It's simply beautiful. Okay enough of that.
This week. Well, God has blessed us so much and continues to hear and answer our pleading prayers. We have 5 investigators at church, and I couldn't take my smile off my face. I was so happy. Two of them are couples, so that's awesome because that means that they are just that much closer to getting baptized and being able to be sealed as a family on the earth and for the eternities. The time that we spend here on earth is so short. The thing is that everything that we do in this short time affects where we go after this life and how happy we are and will be. We should choose wisely don'tcha think? Sure life will always have it's ups and downs, but if we look at the glass have full instead of half empty we will be able to see the beautiful blessings our merciful God has given us. On my mission I have realized that though sometimes a whole day does not go anything like we planned, there is no reason to be discouraged. Why? Because we were doing all we could, our best, and God knows that. It's a GREAT blessing that God looks upon the desires of our hearts isn't it?
Scriptures:
Alma 30:9 It is ACTUALLY a privilege to serve God. When we see it that way, we are so much happier.
John 16:33 "These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have apeace. In the bworld ye shall havectribulation: but be of good dcheer; I have eovercome the world." This is why we should have hope.
Alma 32 I realized that though everyone says this chapter is about faith, which it is, it is about how we must be humble. Also, where we must put our faith and how we develop it.
Prov 21:19 OH MY GOODNESS sometimes the scriptures are so funny and right! Look that one up.
Well I know it is a short email, but I want to end with a miracle. Sure before my mission everyone said I was outgoing and I could talk to people and so on. Yeah I do that, but it's hard. Haha Anyway since I've been on my mission, it's still hard, but God has helped me alot...just by opening my mouth...and that is where our miracle comes in. Hna Higley, is still learning the ropes and she is doing great. This last week, I said we are not going to let 1 person walk past us without us saying something. That's a big deal for us okay. So we were walking to see if we could find a referal, and while we were walking, this older man (60s) (sorry dad haha) was walking very fast looking like he was in a hurry. I was going to talk to him, them doubted myself, and decided I would haha. As I said hello, he said hello and was nice but continued to walk...BUT don't worry, I KEPT UP. Can you see that image. Kinda funny huh? Anyway, we ended up talking to him for like 25 mins. He had see the "find Fatih in Christ" dvd that is on the back of the pass a long cards. We asked if we could go by on Sat. (like 4 days later) He said yes because that is when his family is there and he wants his family to hear it too. (What a good father.) So we went back, on sat but the family had just left. Anyway, we taught him (Pablo) about the restoration, and he was soo prepared. He understand. He said it made sense. He said he would read and pray. We asked him to be baptized on Sept 2, and he said YESSSSSSS. He is the most humble man I've met on my mission. He said if God want's me to take this path, I'm going to do it. HE EXPLAINED that when you get older, you start to realize things. He said that he reads the bible everyday as he works in a liquor store. What a great guy. He said as he got older he began to see the blessings in his life and how we wants happiness. Life is short. After this life, wouldn't you want the people you love forever?
The gospel makes so much sense. The Book of Mormon helps me understand the bible so much more. What a wonderful gift from God.
Have a great week! Don't forget to serve :-)
Love,
Hna Argüello
