hello!
"For God needs brave sons and daughters who are willing to be polished when in His wisdom that is His will." -Richard G. Scott (May, 1994, Ensign) <3<3
So I had a wonderful birthday! Hna higley said we were going to do some service last sat that the elders in our district were going to....but she wanted to drive. I knew something was up haha. Anyway, we went to Foster's ice cream, and Surprise, the zone was there! Haha when I walked in I was like Ahhh. I figure it was just going to be my district...not all these missionaries. It was unexpected. The Zone leaders brought me cupcakes. Nice elders. Anyway, that was fun. We were going to go bowling...but seeing as how it was labor day, the wait line was 4 hours....which missionaries don't have. So that was nice. That was on monday. Then on my birthday on tuesday, I woke up to the smell of breakfast! Yum! Hna had gotten up and cooked pancakes, eggs, and bacon even! She decorated my door. The elders in my zone wrote little notes on sticky notes for me, and hna put them on my door. That was nice. Oh did I tell you she brought me breakfast IN bed?? When was the last time that happened? I don't even know. :-) It was splendid. She's the best! Well, guess what?! You'll never guess it. This is where we look on the positive side of things. So then weds. night, I wasn't feeling so good...I told hna I was going to be sick the next day, and thursday came, and I was sick. I had a cold. It's probably because it's been 100 degress forever, and it decided to be like 75 and rain on wed....which was way toooo cold. I'm going to come back to CO a wimp! So the bright side is, at least my body waited for me to get sick right after my birthday. So yes, I'm still sick, but I've made myself actually sleep and I'm getting better!!!! I think I won't even get my "cough" this time. Aren't you proud?!? It was so nice to get birthday letters in the mail. It sure does brighten a day! Thank you all!!!
So basically this whole last week is a blurrrrr. Honestly. Once I got sick...I like can't remember and it went by super fast. So I'll talk about two little, but big things. We had to teach pablo the Word of Wisdom...and I had been praying a lot because I knew he smoked and at least drank a little. He is like 57 he said...but he looks 70. Anyway, I wasn't nervous to teach it, but I just wasn't sure how his reaction was going to be about it. Anyway we got right in there and taught it. He accepted it and said that he needs to stop and he will. So that was good. His daughter Cecilia was there with her "novioso" (boyfriend...husband..not married) and she was awesome, she said "Well, we're not buying anymore coffee!" That was unexpected. Then we taught the LAW of Chasity...which can always be awkward when you know they aren't married....and it was...but we'll see what happens. It's so sad when the man doesn't wasnt to get married...and they have 2 liitle adorable girls! God really does answer my prayers.
The 17 yr. old girl laura, after a lesson we had, she told us that she feels good when we come over. She said that she has realized that she is changing in this short time and she is so happy. It really touched my heart. She told her dad...that lives in Texas, and he said "well if it's good for you, it's good for me" to sum it up. She feel more at peace. She used to be soooo closed and wouln't say much, but she is opening up, sings, reads, and continues to pray. We taught her the ten commandments, and she said (without us saying anything) "I'll have to talk to my boss about going to church on sunday." She only works weekends though, so I think that is so much faith that she has to talk to him. It is amazing to see the gospel not only become KNOWLEDGE to people, but UNDERSTOOD. I was talking to hna Higley's just last night about being here on a mission. I realized that it was half way over, but how I'd never regret my choice to come. I'm so blessed that God granted me the faith to get on that plane. I realized how much knowledge I had before my mission....but how much I actually understand it so much more now. I know that what I have, my testimony is precious. It's true, the gospel is a treasure, but each person has their choice to choose what they do with it.
Thanks for all the support and love. I feel so blessed to know that I am prayed for, along with all the other missionaries, everyday.

With all my love,

P.s. In that picture, hna higley smashed the cupcake in MY FACE. Happy birthday to me.
"Welcome to Canyon County" I made that sign for the new missionary coming in that an elder was training. So nice huh? =)
